Why Choose UC Verde® Buffalograss?

UC Verde® was developed by the University of California and licensed to Todd Valley Farms in 2003.  UC Verde® has the most heat tolerance of any of our buffalograss varieties.  It is the grass to use in the intense heat in the lower valley of Arizona and California. UC Verde® also shows allelopathic tendencies.

This warm season grass provides a soft dense turf with an attactive bright green color. It is extremely drought tolerance as it only requires .3" of water per week when mature. LEED points are available when using UC Verde® on certified Green Building projects.  Buffalograss is the only turfgrass native to the United States.

Like most plants,  UC Verde® will go through changes during the winter months.  Vertical growth will cease or slow down eliminating any need to mow or water.  Horizontal stolen growth will also slow or stop, so its ability to fill in open areas at this time will be limited.  Winter color will vary by geographic location.
